Summer Adventures Continued

So, last we left off, it was the weekend of the 4th of July. We have been so busy since then! Especially this last weekend!
On Friday we met Ben, Pat, Dan, John Perry and his friend (both down from Utah) for dinner at Ben and Pat's favorite restaurant, Siam Rice. That was nice evening dinner.
On Saturday we went to Chino to an airplane museum. Call us crazy for going that far to be in the 100+ heat (although it was 100+ here, too!)! But Jered (ok, the rest of us, too) loves to see the planes. We missed the airshow earlier that morning. We just couldn't get going... To check out the museum go to www.planesoffame.org
The museum is fantastic! They have the largest collection of flyable World War II planes! Jered was in heaven! They are in the process of restoring a B-17 to be flyable. So we got to see them working on that, and to meet veteran, Wilbur Richards, who had been a ball turret man on a B-17 in the war. The kids got to talk to him and ask him questions. He had his photo albums there, his medals (Distinguished Service, Purple Heart), and articles he had collected. It was fascinating! Of course, they had their picture taken with him.
Jered also asked where the Sherman tank was in the museum. So the kids got to talk to a Vietnam veteran as he escorted them to see the tank, and other vehicles in the outside part of the museum. Kassandra asked him about how he felt when he received his draft notice. And they also talked about different motorcycles used in wars. I didn't catch his name. Those veterans that volunteer out there are fantastic! The kids were so intrigued and learned so much! We'll definitely go back! They are supposed to have the best airshow there in May.
After that we cooled down but walked forever in the Ontario Mills Mall. We did learn that if the sign with the store doesn't say outlet, then it isn't and the prices aren't any less! That place is huge! The Lego store was having a master builder event, and the kids participated. They built bricks to help make a pirate. They got certificates for helping with the event.
We checked into our room before proceeding to our next adventure. We went and saw Ice Age 3 at the drive-in theater in Montclair. I think it's the only drive-in left in Southern California, but I'm not certain. We had been there before, and we enjoyed it again. We didn't stay for the 2nd movie, Up, because we have already seen it. To check out the drive-in theater go to

We stayed the night in the area, it would have been way too late to drive the hour and half home!
