Dance, dance, dance!

So yesterday, July 14th, was back to dance. The kids are taking classes, but not too many.
Jered had rehearsal yesterday. His competition team actually competed this afternoon at the Disneyland Hotel. They did so well at the Showstoppers Regionals in May (platinum and 3rd overall) that they went back for Showstoppers Nationals. Today they got Gold and 8th overall. Not bad, not bad!
Kassandra and I, in the meantime, had a dance adventure ourselves. Off to buy Kassandra's very first pair of pointe shoes! Of course, there isn't a place here in Santa Clarita, no, we have to go to Los Angeles! I "love" the 405...Check out the pictures of the fitting. She is so excited that she got invited to the beginning pointe class! She has been working for that goal! Well, if you aren't familiar with pointe shoes, you must also buy the toe gels (thank heavens no more lamb's wool like in my time!), the ribbons and elastic and the sewing kit to sew the ribbons and elastic on the shoes! And, yes, there is a correct and incorrect way to sew those on the shoes (as a couple of girls found out in class tonight). So check out the progression from no ribbons and elastics to finished product, all to be completed before class tonight! Then off to her very first pointe class! She was so excited! Check out the pictures! She looks every bit the ballerina! Wow!
